“Experimental dream-pop group School Of Seven Bells is set to release its sophomore album,
Disconnect From Desire, on July 13 via Vagrant/Ghostly International. A follow-up to 2008’s
Alpinisms,
the new album creates an intimate ambiance for the band’s elaborate,
multi-layered sound. Featuring identical twins Alejandra and Claudia
Deheza (formerly of On!Air!Library!) and Benjamin Curtis (formerly of
Secret Machines), the band began to tour more frequently last year,
translating the momentum from its audience into the recording process.
“A huge part of the record was conceived during the whirlwind of live
shows and traveling we experienced this past year,” Alejandra tells
CMJ. “It was a great deal of the energy behind the sounds on this
record, I feel. The way our lives were changing through this process,
the way the chaos transformed into stillness after touring—all of this
was in the recording process.””
